During the month of May, we’ll be hanging out in the book of Acts or “The Acts of the Apostles,” exploring the early development of the church.  We begin with one of the more complicated fellows in New Testament scripture, Paul.  Paul (also once known as Saul) started out as a violent persecutor of the early church movement.  He went from being its biggest threat to being its biggest proponent, following an unexpected and life-changing encounter with the risen Christ.  While none of us will EVER have a story that rivals Paul’s, this passage leads us to examine our own lives and what it means to be called into a movement that is larger than ourselves.  How might God use us—even the most unexpected among us—as instruments in God’s unfolding story?
