It’s Picnic Sunday and the scripture reading for this week features food! Jesus attended a dinner at the home of one of the religious leaders. The text says that the leaders watched Jesus closely but it turns out that Jesus was also watching them. Jesus offered advice that initially sounds more like a recommendation from Emily Post than guidance from the Son of God. But received through a different lens, we realize that Jesus was talking about more than just table manners…he was talking about Kingdom manners…for the folks of that day and for us, in this day and age, as well.
