Tending and Tarrying

Tending and Tarrying

The Gospel of Matthew has multiple parables about sowing and seeds. A few weeks back, we explored the parable of the sower, where a good farmer sowed good seed, some of it falling on receptive ground and some of it falling to less receptive soil. This Sunday we spend time with the parable of the wheat and the weeds, featuring a “good farmer” with “good seed” and a “bad farmer” with “bad seed.” How does this ancient parable speak to the modern church as we struggle with “good and bad” in our world, in our churches and within ourselves?

Scripture passage: Matthew 13:24-30 & 36-43
