Pacific Beach UMC is a part of a larger organization called The United Methodist Church (UMC), which was formed when the Methodist Church and the Evangelical United Brethren Church merged in 1968. But we trace our heritage back to the movement begun in 1729 in England by John (1703–1791) and Charles (1707–1788) Wesley.
Often identified by our unique Cross & Flame, The United Methodist Church has grown worldwide and is the second largest Protestant denomination in the United States. Our worldwide connection includes approximately 12.5 million members.
Pacific Beach UMC is structured organizationally within the global UMC through the following entities (please click links for more information):
- South District (click the South District tab)
Rev. John Farley, Superintendent - California-Pacific Annual Conference
Bishop Grant J. Hagiya - Western Jurisdiction
- The United Methodist Church
