The Economy of Grace

The Economy of Grace

We continue this week in Jesus’ sermon on the plain.  Last week we contemplated what Jesus’ “blessings and woes” told us about God.  This week we dive into what that might look like, in practical terms, for each one of us.  Our gospel reading this week propels us into some of the most challenging of Jesus’ teachings…love your enemy, bless those who curse you, turn the other cheek. Is that really desirable? Is that even possible? There is so much in this passage about grace received and grace given…how do we live into this life that promises “a good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put in your lap”? (And what on earth does that mean?) Join us Sunday as we ponder, pray, sing and delight in the company of one another and God’s Spirit in which we gather!
