The season of Lent is a time of reflection, as Pastor Bob notes in a recent blog post. As a United Methodist Church, PB UMC recognizes the importance of Lent and the opportunity to prepare our hearts for the celebration of Jesus’ resurrection at Easter. During these forty days of lent – not including Sundays – we often give up something that might tempt us. We also have the opportunity to take on something that might build us up, that might aid us in our preparations.
To this end, we will journey together through the book The Last Week: What the Gospels Really Teach About Jesus’s Final Days in Jerusalem by Marcus J. Borg and John Dominic Crossan. Using the Gospel of Mark as a guide, Borg and Crossan explore in great detail the final week of the Christ in Jerusalem.
With this as a guide, our sermon series will follow the schedule below. Come and experience Jesus’ profound ministry and teachings in a new way!
