This year’s Advent and Christmas series, “Light of the World,” takes us back to basics (as we’ve done throughout this year) in our Christian faith. Guided by the book of the same name by Amy-Jill Levine, we will look at our preparations for Christmas with fresh eyes, seeking the accessible story of a child who would change the world.
- Advent Kick-Off on December 1st
- Christmas Musical on December 15th
- Community Christmas Meal on December 19th
- Christmas Caroling on December 22nd
- Christmas Eve Worship on December 24th
Advent Kick-Off
Pacific Beach UMC will host our fifth annual Advent Kickoff on Sunday, December 1, 2019, beginning at 4pm. We will have special Advent craft activities for participants to take home and enjoy. If you would prefer to simply connect with our faith community over a meal, join in at 5pm. Bring your favorite potluck dish, or show off your best thanksgiving leftover creation: a side dish or a dessert; and we will provide some beverages. After dinner, we will sing Christmas Carols to help us get into the Christmas spirit!
“A Baby Changes Everything”
PB UMC has a long tradition of presenting musical and dramatic arts to celebrate the Christmas Season. This year’s presentation is a concert presentation with songs and dramatic reading by The Voices of Praise and Acts of Faith Players. We will host three presentations at 9am, 10:30am, and 6pm.
Christmas Caroling
Once again, we have the opportunity to give the gift of Christmas to our neighbors by spreading the Joy through caroling in our community on Sunday, December 22nd from 5pm to 7pm. Gather in the church parking lot with others who will enjoy the fellowship organized by our “youths” and our new Youth Ministry Coordinator, Erich Schmitt!
Project Grace Christmas Dinner
Our annual Christmas Dinner – a special offering of our regular SD Project Grace – will be held on December 18th. Chef Ben will prepare a traditional Ham dinner with all of the fixings! If you would like to help sponsor this dinner, you can sign up with Chef Ben to donate one or more hams, or make a donation to help cover the cost of the dinner. This is a great chance for you and your family to help bring Christmas to our neighbors in need, by volunteering to help serve the meal or simply sitting and chatting with our guests.
Christmas Eve Worship
We will present three services on Christmas Eve (December 24th), at 5pm, 7pm, and 11pm. Christmas Eve is a time for the entire family to worship together, so while a family-focused service will be presented at 5pm, plan on the entire family being together for every service.
Come celebrate with a faith community committed to showing Christ-like love!
