New is good! Thanks for checking out PB UMC. On this page, we want to cover a few common questions that newcomers ask.
When and Where is Worship?
We worship online and in person. The worship service begins at 10:00am. Tune into our livestream on Sunday mornings at 10!
The church is in the heart of Pacific Beach at 1561 Thomas Avenue. Click here for a map and directions.
What Is Worship Like?
It’s great! We celebrate an uplifting, “blended” style of worship, meaning that the service incorporates traditional and modern music accompanied by organ, piano, drums, and other instruments. All words are on a screen up front so the service is easy to follow. We sing together and we listen to the Voices of Praise choir perform heartfelt anthems. Each week, Pastor Lori brings a sermon that’s relevant and always rooted in scripture. You can listen to past sermons here.
What about Children?
Children of all ages are welcomed and celebrated at PB UMC. Infant and toddler care is available during worship, and for older kids, there is always a meaningful children’s time offered as part of worship. After children’s time, youth can stay in worship or head off to Sunday School. Besides Sunday mornings, youth programs are available for elementary through high school youth.
What Should I Wear?
Be comfortable! You will find people at PB UMC wearing coats and ties, dresses, jeans, shorts, and flip-flops.
Where Should I Park?
The church has a parking lot on the west side of its campus that extends across the alley. Additional free parking is available one block away at US Bank (corner of Ingraham and Grand). Street parking is also free.
What if I’m…
Single? Married? Divorced? Old? Young? LGBTQIA+? Straight? Rich? Poor? Black/white/Latin/Asian/etc. So are we! You’ll fit right in.
What about Accessibility?
PB UMC is grateful to have differently-abled persons as part of the faith community. Parking for those with disabled tags is available in the front part of the main lot. The sanctuary and social hall are at ground level. Accessible bathrooms are available. Children’s Sunday school rooms usually involve stairs but accommodations can be made; in fact, a specially trained assistant is available for special needs children. Please contact us if you’d like more details.
Now What?
Come see us! You’ll be welcomed. If there are any questions we forgot, please let us know. We look forward to seeing you on Sunday!
