Anointed

Anointed

Last Sunday we spent time reflecting on the beginning of Jesus’ ministry in the Gospel of John as he turned water into wine at a wedding in Cana. Today we transition to another gospel and take a look at the beginning of Jesus’ ministry from Luke’s perspective. In Luke, Jesus’ ministry doesn’t start with a party…rather it starts in the middle of a worship service. In our text for Sunday, we find Jesus doing a rather ordinary thing. He is standing in the synagogue, reading scripture in his faith community. But the ordinary turns extraordinary when Jesus makes an astonishing claim! Join us as we reflect together on Jesus the one who is “anointed” to do remarkable things.
