Today we continue in the Gospel of Luke, a gospel that focuses our attention again and again on our use of resources and our treatment of those in society who are most vulnerable. While this week’s account sounds like it might be a reflection on the afterlife, it is in fact about our actions and priorities in the here and now. It invites us to recognize the “chasms” or divides that exist between us and others, and it encourages us, in our lives of discipleship, to turn back to the primary “tool in our toolbox,” scripture. Join us to discover more of what we might learn from Lazarus and the rich man.
Scripture passages: Luke 16:19-31
