Our text today is popularly known as the “wise and foolish virgins.” It’s a parable with which many of us might struggle to connect. The imagery and language feel archaic and, at first blush, this parable might seem to have little to do with our contemporary lives. But what does it mean to us, the body of Christ in the world today, to keep the light on and to anticipate the coming of joy?
