This Sunday we spend time with Matthew’s version of the Parable of the Sower. This is one of those parables that is familiar to many but clear to few! In our reading for Sunday, we hear the parable itself and then an explanation of the parable, most likely a layer of interpretation added onto the text in later years. What is Jesus trying to tell us about discipleship and ministry? What constitutes “good soil” and what conditions are necessary for us to spiritually flourish, as individuals and as a community?
