Words for the Beginning: Hope Is Worth the Risk

Words for the Beginning: Hope Is Worth the Risk

On this fourth Sunday of Advent, we will enter into the world of Mary and Joseph to explore the notion of hope. Mary and Joseph each risked a great deal in order to choose hope. How does that inform and inspire our lives of faith today? Why would we choose hope when it might lead to disappointment? How do we choose hope in times that are uncertain or difficult? What difference does it make in our lives and in the world around us?

Scripture passages: Matthew 1:18-25 and Luke 1:46-55
